About Gosaikunda Trek in detail:

Gosainkunda Trek is a perfect wildness trek to the northeast from Kathmandu Valley leading through the west of Langtang National Park under the shades of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna Massif. The trek leading to a maximum elevation of 4600m not only brings you to the perfect wilderness of Nepal and the ultimate remote of the region but the main focus is on the sacred glacial lake, Gosainkunda adjoined by many other glacial lakes. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake during the full moon of August as the belief is that Lord Shiva (Mahadev) high in the grief of his wife, Sati, felt thirsty and hit the floor with his holy stick (Trishul) creating the lakes. The lake proves the myth as a image of Mahadev can be seen in the middle of the lake. Gosainkunda Trek is a full package of religious, cultural and natural bliss. The inhabitants of the region, though thinly populated, are Sherpas and Tamangs, famous for their strength in the mountains, their unique culture and their hospitality. The region brings you across varied cultural regions from Himalayas to remote valleys, amazing views of snowcapped mountains: Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Sispangma of Tibet and many other surrounding peaks, traditional monasteries, colorful culture of the locals and also the trail leads you through habitat of Red Panda.
