About Dhampus and Ghandruk Trek in detail:

Ghandruk and Dhampus two villages are situated in the Kaski district, known as an ancient route of trekking in the Annapurna region. Both villages are occupied by Gurung society who has flown to Buddhism and preserved their ancient culture still now. Most young people have been involving as Gorkha Army in British and India. Agriculture and animal husbandry are another major occupation of the villagers. Some animals will be grazed in the meadow around the villages. The village’s houses are made of stone and mod but nowadays modern houses are also rapidly constructed. The Ghandruk old village is one of the most beautiful villages that can be observed while we are walking around the museum. Their lifestyle and custom are different than other parts of the nation. Usually, young girls and boys gathering in the evening and perform local songs and dance which is called Rodhi. Rodhi is a battle of songs. It is one of the most famous cultures of Gurung society.

Except for the culture of the society the trek offers a massive view of Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri and other snowcapped mountains along the north side. Deep gorge, rivers, rhododendron forest, wild animals, birds, waterfalls, terrace of rice fields are lured to visitors while they are walking onto the path. The place is famous for sunrise and sunset with beautiful scenery of golden mountains.

Especially students, families, and couples dream to visit and get an experience of Gurung culture and observe the stunning view of mountains in their lifetime. Thousands of local and foreign people go hiking every year. Some volunteers are working with locals for the research of their job. Outline itinerary of Dhampus and Ghandruk Trek

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu city (1,300m/4,264ft)

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara (827m/2,700ft): 6-7 hours

Day 03: Drive to Phedi and trek to Dhampus or Australian Camp (2000m): 30 minutes’ drive, 4-5 hours trek

Day 04: Dhampus (1600m) to Ghandruk(2012m): 6-7 hours

Day 05: Ghandruk to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara (827m/2,700ft): 5-6 hours trek and an hour drive

Day 06: Drive back to Kathmandu by Tourist coach 7-8 hours

Day 07: Final departure
